This is a Nicaraguan puro from the Plasencia factory blended by Don Roger Duarte and the legendary Evelio Oviedo. The wrapper is dark, veiny, and a little oily. The cigar has a few subtle hints of dark chocolate throughout the entire smoke. This big ring gauge made for a lengthy break at just over an hour and a half of cigar time. The draw and burn were both fantastic for a cigar of this size.
I really enjoyed the Don Duarte and think in a smaller Vitola the flavors could really be more enjoyable and even more defined. I think in this day and age of consumers that cigar makers are pumping out big ring gauges because the sell the most, but the quality just isn’t there like it is in a Corona or a Lancero. I am going to find a couple of them in a smaller size and do another review of this same line.
