El Gran Robusto by Don Lopez

The Don Lopez Toro turned out to be a great cigar for this cold walk. I had just received these from Yunior Lopez in the mail and couldn’t wait to give them a try.

The flavor profile was fantastic, very smooth. The best way to describe this cigar is a mocha. It is creamy and has a nice cedar aroma. The mix of the different tobacco in this cigar has been blended perfectly. The burn was great even on a rediculously windy afternoon.

I would recommend this as a great morning cigar paired with a coffee or a cappuccino to off set it’s subtle hint of sweetness.

I am giving this cigar 8 Smoke Rings. I am looking forward to letting the other I received rest for a few days before trying another and think they can only improve.

  1. I’ve got one of these burning and it’s truly an amazing cigar, such a smooth flavor! This is in my top five most memorable smokes. Hands down. Thanks for yet another glorious, unbiased recommendation.

  3. Thank you for the detailed review, Ben. I couldn’t find a store that carried these so I emailed Yunior Lopez at Don Lopez Cigars and he was nice enough to send me a couple of samples to try, which included some really beautiful 6×60’s that were one of the closest Cuban-style cigars I’ve tried in a long time. It reminded me a lot of the Pepin Garcia cigars as they also came with a triple cap. Thanks again for exposing us to this brand.
