I have had a bit of a hiatus from cigar reviews with some personal life events happening and also the ice and snow storms interupting my hearty appetite for a good cigar. I received a very amazing sampler in the mail from my good friend and cigar legend Gary Griffith of Emilio Cigars.
Today’s smoke and review is the Ezra Zion Honor Series FHK. The cigar comes in the following:
- “President” 54 x 6.75
- “40th” Box Press 52 x 6.00
- “The Great Communicator” 50 x 5.50
- “Peace by Strength” Box Press 48 x 7.00
- “Wall Down” 46 x 6.00
- Grade “A” Nicaraguan Tobaccos Aged 5 to 6 Years
- 2006 Cuban Seed Sun Grown Habano
- 2006 Cuban Seed
- 2007 Cuban Seed Seco, Viso, and Ligero
I will say this was a much needed cigar and one that just by the aroma from the wrapper I could tell was going to be a treat and also a show stopper. The dark chocolate wrapper exudes pleasure and flavor just from the aroma and look.
The dry draw was sweet almost like a chocolate milk but definitely a hint of boldness, the first third of this cigar took about 20 minutes and was a real pleasure to enjoy.
Halfway through the cigar it changes ever so slightly into a little spice and meanders away from the mild and into the medium to full bodies category for me ( I am an expert on my opinion!). The ash is strong and the burn line holds sharp.
The final third of this cigar is where the flavor has hidden away ready to pounce on the nubile cigar smoker. The strong black coffee flavor has really came out to play and reminds me of a good cuban coffee, with just a mild hint of caramel. I would say this is one of the best cigars I have had in a long time.
I am giving the Ezra Zion Honor Series FHK 9 Smoke Rings! This is a real treat, the flavor is fantastic and for the price you cannot compare this to another cigar in it’s price category! Get these, they are amazing, you will not be disappointed if you want flavor and quality.
