La Palina Mr. Sam

The La Palina “Mr. Sam”, named for the founder Sam Paley. These were a pretty limited release of about 800 boxes or so and thanks to a friend I managed to get one in my humidor to smoke. I let this beauty rest for long enough and thought why save it, when I can enjoy it?

The construction of the cigar was flawless and the wrapper was very smooth with only a couple of noticeable veins. Pre light, I picked up an almost caramel scent. The first third of the cigar really delivers the flavor quickly and was almost a pecan and pepper flavor. The burn was a little off in the first third but it soon evened out and was acceptable considering the windy day here in Seattle.

I really enjoyed this cigar and the second half of the cigar had a heavy cedar flavor. This cigar was a completely different flavor profile of the last La Palina I had reviewed, and I really prefer the strong Nicaraguan tobacco. I am giving this cigar a solid 8 Smoke Rings and I am on the look out to pick up a few more of these to rest in my stash.
