I had a package waiting for me when I finished my 2 hours of work, the S-307 by Nomad cigars had arrived and needed to be sampled. I really enjoy a box pressed cigar and this Toro sized treat looked tasty. The cigar felt firm and the pre light draw was just a little peppery. The Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper is flawless and this is really a perfect example of the products that are being made by the AJ Fernandez factory.
The first third of the cigar delivered some great spice and black pepper flavors. The burn on this box press was even and that has been something that I haven’t been able to say about some of the other box pressed sticks I have sampled lately. This S-307 delivers quite a bit of smoke, which is one of the qualities I thoroughly enjoy. Half way into the cigar the hint of leather and cedar flavors started to be detectable but just enough to enjoy and not over powering. This is one of the best blended boutique cigars I have had, the wrapper is just up my flavor alley and I am savoring the last third down to being a nail burner.
After smoking this cigar I made a few calls here in the Seattle area to find out where I can buy them, I really enjoyed this cigar and I am giving it 9 Smoke Rings. Fred Rewey is one of the easiest approached cigar makers and he really has created a winner with the S-307. If you want a great box pressed cigar that won’t break the bank you should give these a try.
